Emily: “I got into roofing as my Dad is in the industry and gave me the opportunity to try roofing as a career choice. I like how much of a hands-on job it is, as a person I don’t mind getting my hands dirty and I’m always up for the challenge and I enjoy the work it’s self as I like the routine of it. Roofing can be very hard, some days can be hot and some days can be cold and wet and after a week it can really catch up with you, but if you motivate yourself everyday there are also a lot of positives that come out of it. You’ll be physically fit, it’s a great career, no matter what you’ll always be able to go into this type of work, it can feel like an amazing achievement after a hard few weeks and it can be very good financially. There are a lot more positives then there are negatives, but roofing can be hard so you definitely have to have a passion for hands-on work.”
Jonathan: “A typical day for me as an apprentice is always exciting, I’m constantly learning new ways of working. Each day when working on site is different, but is very enjoyable. College has been a big help, the tutors have been so helpful towards me pushing me to complete work to the highest level.”
